Drawing Animals Group ![]() You cannot speak, but your eyes say it all So fluffy and warm, I feel your love My best friend, sent down from above
I hope you enjoy our new Look & Feel of our website, we are really pleased with it.
New Look & Feel It was a lot of hard work as I changed the Look it messed all the pages up and I have had to go through every page and smarten it up. So, if you see anything that doesn't look right, please use the contact form on our site and let us know so we can change it, thanks.
![]() February's Tip! When drawing with Colour Pencils, always lean your hand on a piece of paper.Never lean your hand directly onto your drawing as the oils from your skin could interfere with your art paper and smudge your colours. What's New This Month! January was a really cold month, but what's better than getting your pencils out, grabbing a coffee, curling up on the sofa and do some sketches. So, in our tutorials we now have a black and white drawing of a dog, plus a black and white drawing of a horse. These drawings are for beginners as they are so easy to do and once they are finished, your confidence will be boosted no end. It would be really good if you could share your drawings with us and others. The entry form at the bottom of each of the tutorials, will allow you to have your own page on our site, where your friends and family can comment which will boost your confidence even further and the best part is, it's all FREE! Here are the latest follow along tutorials:
We have a new section on our site, it is called 'Drawing Help' which I think we all need at some time in our Art Journey.
Drawing Help! Before you ask a question, have a quick flick through all the questions and answers that have already been asked, you never know you might find a solution to your problem. If you ask a question we will add it to the Q & A's page so it may help future visitors.
We also have an A to Z of Animals which should be handy to find what you want quite easily.
A To Z Of Animals! So, as we make new tutorials we will be listing them here, at the moment we only have a dog and horse as shown in 'What's New This Month' above. We will be adding a new follow along to this list very soon, so watch out for that.
We have a new section called 'Pets In Heaven' it is a Memorial to all our lost loved ones.
Special Memorial To You can add your story about your pet, add some photos and it will go on your very own special page where friends and family can comment on it. I have already added my lovely German Shepherd and his story, so pop over and have a look and add your own 'Pet In Heaven'.
So, what are the pro’s and cons of using Pastel Pencils, let’s take a look.
Pastel Pencils
Pastels are a dream to use, they have a strong colour pigment which makes any drawing pop.
Pro's Of Pastels They are best used on a paper with a texture, this way you can add more and more layers of colour. You can also blend the pigment on this paper, we will be doing a section on blending pastels especially for you so you can see how they work.
What are the cons of pastels?
Con's of Pastels You must be very careful when using pastels, as they are very messy and smudge so easy. Try keeping your hand off your work so you don’t ruin your masterpiece. When framing a pastel drawing, you definitely need a double mount so the drawing does not touch the glass or plastic that covers it.
Many many years ago when I first began drawing animals, I would get a lot of the drawing done and think to myself 'that's rubbish' and I would throw it in the bin.
Little Tip For Beginners! But hey you know what, one day I got to that stage of binning my work and instead I carried on and guess what? The finished artwork came out great. So this is a great drawing tip, if you ever get to the stage where you want to give up or you think you have done a rubbish job on your drawing, take a break, even take a few days, then come back to it and carry on, just keep going and hopefully you will be surprised. Speak next month. Stay Safe...
If you have enjoyed our tutorials and newsletter, please leave us some feedback, it's lovely to know what you think. Your feedback will be on our site for others to see, thanks.
